If you're a national of an Ibero-American country, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, or Portugal, you can apply for Spanish citizenship after just two years of legal residence — not ten. That's an eight-year shortcut for many of our Latin American clients.

If you register as autónomo, you file IVA and quarterly income tax returns.
Health card (tarjeta sanitaria)
Register with the local health system for access to public health services.
Padrón registration (empadronamiento)
Register your address with the town hall — required for many administrative procedures.
Opening a Spanish bank account

Exchanging your driving licence

School enrolment for children

Digital Nomad Visa renewal
The Digital Nomad Visa is issued for up to one year and must be renewed. After the first renewal, subsequent renewals extend to three years.

Long-term residency permit
After five continuous years of legal residence in Spain, you can apply for permanent residency. This changes your status from temporary to permanent resident.
What changes at permanent residency
Permanent residents no longer need to renew their permit every few years. You gain broader rights, including the ability to vote in certain municipal elections and participate in local institutions.
Standard citizenship path (10 years)
After ten continuous years of legal residence in Spain, you can apply for Spanish citizenship. This grants you a Spanish passport and full citizen rights.
